Miraculous Ladybug Movie Thoughts
Just my initial scattered thoughts after watching the movie! (Beware run-on sentences) 🐞🐈⬛❤️
- Okay okay this was like the most satisfying film ever because I have waited years for the reveal and for Adrien and his father to learn each other’s identities
- Like it could not have been captured more perfectly when half of Adrien’s mask was revealed to Gabriel, and Gabriel just fell to his knees to apologize to his son because Gabriel knows how badly he messed up. I lived for that whole scene (it was such an emotional climax)
- And can we just talk about the way that the crescendo of music abruptly cut off to give way to the sound of sirens and silence from the destroyed city because it hits you just how much pain and suffering Gabriel caused in his blind rage and sorrow in his attempt to get Emilie back
- My second favorite scene has to go to the penultimate scene where Marinette reveals her identity to Adrien.
- Just the fact that we as an audience have seen her grow so much from the beginning of the movie made this ending all the more satisfying
- And Adrien was crying too because he finally found his Ladybug and understands that she really did like him all along. He realizes that he knows Marinette as a close friend on top of her being the partner that he fights crime with.
- And wow the montage of them growing closer both as Ladybug and Cat Noir and and Adrien and Marinette was phenomenal. They’re just your friendly neighborhood heroes :)
- And the sparring scene? That was definitely one of my favorite scenes because I realized that we’ve never had anything like it in the show? (At least from what I remember — I stopped watching after like season 3)
- It’s so nice to see them on patrol relaxing and being silly teenagers who mess around and hang out. It cemented their friendship in a way and gave us just a small glimpse of their day to day outside of the usual routine that we’re so used to seeing. The hand-to-hand combat was also just cool to watch as well.
- I’m glad that these characters were given time to breathe for just a moment before the movie picked up the pace again.
- And boy did it! The following scene where Adrien talked back to his father and stood up for himself was so satisfying. Adrien finally said what Gabriel needed to hear (though it fell on deaf ears). Adrien had felt neglected for years — of course he’s not just going to accept his father’s sudden concern for his well-being.
- The points above are what stood out to me the most. Here are a few other of my opinions on the film:
- I think that it struck a good balance between humor and more serious scenes. Adrien wallowing and listening to Careless Whisper while Paris was being attacked made me laugh so much. He’s really just a little guy who needs a hug
- I wasn’t expecting it to be a musical, but the music wasn’t exactly unwelcome? A few of the songs were pretty ballady and I was like ehhhh. But I came around, and it’s clear that the singers poured a lot of emotion into this film.
- I deeply enjoyed the song Marinette sings before she cries, “Tikki, spots on!” for the first time.
- I also liked the song Adrien sang when he was falling for Ladybug. And hearing their theme song during the montage was also a lot of fun!
- The banter at the beginning of the movie was really funny, and I find it sweet how lovestruck Adrien became when Marionette asked, “Not bad for a sidekick, huh?”
- Ahhh they both fell and they fell hard. This is a good day for Adrienette shippers like me haha (though I did see Luka there, maybe he’ll play a bigger role in the sequel?)
- Marinette’s dress having the dainty ladybug wings that she designed herself? Gorgeous.
- And of course I have to give major kudos to the voice actors, especially Cristina Vee, Bryce Paperbrook, and Keith Silverstein (he didn’t have to slay that hard, but he did??). Each of them gave wonderful performances and their characters wouldn’t be complete without the actors having lent their voices (for literal years since the beginning of the television show)
- I sincerely appreciate the attention and care that was given to the characters as well as their stories (something that I felt was missing from the show in later seasons and was the reason that I stopped watching)
- That’s all I have to say for now, but I certainly enjoyed this film and will be rewatching it!
One of the things I love about the ML movie is how chat noir's bell is just constantly ringing whenever he moves
It's so soft you can barely hear it, but if you're paying attention it's there and it's such a nice touch
Something I love about the memory of Zelda and Sonia in the German dub of TotK...
(Translation: And your Link, too, is surely awaiting your return.)
Sonia uses the phrase "dein Link" ("your Link") here, which in German is a common phrase to indicate the belief that someone might have romantic feelings for another person. And the way Pauliner Weiner (Sonia's German VA) delivers this line very much indicates that she is indeed teasing Zelda a little here! Sonia ships Zelink confirmed!!
But wait. There's more!
Botw/Totk Headcannons!
SPOILERS FOR BOTW AND TOTK’s ENDINGS
- Riju is obsessed with sand seals because before her mother died she watched her mom sew the sand seal stuffed animals found in her room
- Prince Sidon and Lady Yona are married for political reasons , they’re besties but they do not see eachother as romantic partners . Lady Yona is asexual and lesbian and has feelings for her guard. (The black Zora, i forgot her name sorry) .
- Link brought The Light Dragon/Zelda silent princess flowers every day and often times braided them into her mane

- After Botw, the champions felt that they had served their purpose in the afterlife and therefore took away the ability that they gave to link as they passed to hylia’s lands .which is why link does not have the abilities in totk . Sometimes the champions visit him in his dreams though .
- link is very cuddly and fluffy with Zelda and allthough it’s strange to zelda, she appreciates it nonetheless
- Sidon and Riju are very good friends . Siblings almost . Riju tries to do sidon’s make up every now and then.
